40 Advance from the Second New England Amateur Qualifier at Pawtucket Country Club (RI)

Pawtucket, Rhode Island – The second day of qualifying was held on Thursday June 20th at Pawtucket Country Club to determine the field for the 2019 New England Amateur Championship, which will be contested on July 23-25 at Quechee Club in Quechee, Vermont.

On this day in Pawtucket, a total of 68 competitors representing three of six New England Golf Association states advanced to the Championship Proper following an 18-hole qualifier where the cut line fell at 7-over par 69. Those 40 competitors have earned themselves a spot at next month's Championship, while six additional players finished as alternates and will be placed on a priority list per the Alternate Policy, which can be found on the New England Golf Association Policies and Procedures Page.
The 6420-yard layout in Pawtucket proved to be a challenge for the field of 68 competitors as only 1 competitor was able to post an under-par round.
Tim Umphrey, a rising senior on the University of Connecticut men’s golf team, led the way on the day, as he finished with a score of 1-under par 68 and carded a total of 15 pars on the day, to secure a playing spot in the 90th New England Amateur Championship.
Finishing second overall after posting a score of 1-over par 70 was a three-way tie between Cam Moniz (Swansea CC – MA), Owen Quinn (Wachusett CC – MA), and Jordan Burke (Needham GC – MA).
