Acushnet, Massachusetts – The final day of qualifying was held on Monday August 26th at The Acushnet River Valley Golf Course to determine the field for the 2019 New England Amateur Championship, which will be contested on September 17-18 at Biddeford-Sacro Country Club in Saco, ME. In addition to the qualifier at Acushnet, there was a second qualifier being contested today at Riverside Golf Course in Portland, Maine.
The 6302-yard layout in Acushnet proved to be a challenge for the field of 79 competitors as only two competitors were able to post an under-par round.

On this day in Acushnet, a total of 29 competitors all representing Massachusetts advanced to the Championship Proper following an 18-hole qualifier where the cut line fell at 6-over par 78. Those 29 competitors have earned themselves a spot at next month's Championship, while seven additional players finished as alternates and will be placed on a priority list per the Alternate Policy, which can be found on the New England Golf Association Policies and Procedures Page.
Ronald Laverdiere, a member at Crumpin-Fox Club (MA) led the way on the day, as he finished with a score of 3-under par 69 and carded a total of seven birdies on the day, to secure a playing spot in the 22nd New England Senior Amateur Championship. Finishing solo second overall after posting a score of 1-under par 71 was Ed Garbacik (Orchards GC-MA). Garbacik got off to a hot start during his round, as he carded two birdies and an eagle through just three holes, making him 4-under par going into the fourth hole.
