2018 New England Senior Amateur Championship Field Now Set Following Third & Final Qualifier

ATKINSON, NH – The third and final qualifying round for the 2018 New England Senior Amateur Championship was held at Atkinson Resort & Country Club on Wednesday.

On the line in New Hampshire were the final spots for the Championship Proper which will be held on September 18-19 at Burlington Country Club in Burlington, Vermont.
Battling a tough layout and a field of competitors who are all 55 years or older, Doug Parigian (Long Meadow GC - MA) used a strong start to propel him into the top spot overall with a medalist score of 2-over par 74. Parigian, a longtime resident of the Bay State, made birdie on the 2nd and 7th holes. Seven pars on that front nine allowed Parigian to make the turn at 2-under par 34.
Although he was unable to keep up that sizzling pace down the stretch, Parigian's final score of 2-over par was two better than the second-place finisher, Mark Savel (The Haven CC - MA) who turned in a score of 4-over par 76.
Capturing a share of third place with scores of 5-over par 77 were Robert Bogart (Salem CC - MA) and John Carroll (Indian Ridge CC - MA). In what was a Bay State dominated field, eight of the 11 qualifiers were from Massachusetts. The only non-Bay State qualifiers from the Atkinson site were Jeff Dolin (Manchester CC - CT), Anthony Battelle (New Hampshire Seniors - NH), and James Staffieri (Salem CC - NH).
The final qualifying spot was captured by Joe Dimarzio (Plymouth CC - MA) thanks to a strong finish which saw him make par on his final five holes. That finish enabled him to secure the final spot with a score of 9-over par 81 which was one better than the three alternates - Aram Hintlian (Brae Burn CC - MA), Thomas Porter (Winchester CC - MA), and Bob Hamilton (Thorny Lea GC). Those three competitors will be placed on a priority list per the Alternate Policy, which can be found on the New England Golf Association Policies and Procedures Page.
