Senior Amateur Conditions of Play
Eligibility: Entries are open to amateur golfers who will have reached their 55th birthday by September 17, 2024, hold membership in a club belonging to one of the six New England State Golf Associations and have an up-to-date USGA/GHIN Handicap Index not exceeding 12.0.
Entry Procedures: Entries and fully paid entry fees must be received through the NEGA Online Entry process by 5:00 pm EST on the published entry deadline.
Format: Competition will be in two (2) stages at Stroke Play:
1. Sectional Qualifying (18 holes)
2. Championship Proper (36 holes)
Field: The Championship Proper field is limited to 120 players.
2024 Exemptions: Upon receipt of the online registration and fee, the players listed on the exemption page are exempt from Sectional Qualifying. When available (February 1st) Click HERE to view the exemption list.
Schedule - Championship Proper:
Round 1 - September 11 (18 Holes)
Round 2 - September 12 (18 Holes)
The lowest scorer for 36 holes will be Champion. There will be winners in the Senior and Super Senior Divisions.
If a tie for first place occurs, play will immediately continue hole-by-hole until a winner is determined. If ties for other positions occur, duplicate merchandise certificates will be awarded.
Caddies & Automotive Transportation: Cart fee is included in entry fee. Pull carts (at the host club(s) discretion) and caddies are permitted.
Food/Beverage: A complimentary lunch will be available on the first day of the championship proper.
Starting Times: Qualifying Round Starting Times & Player Information will be emailed to all competitors shortly after the close of entries. Championship Starting Times & Player Information will be emailed to all competitors shortly after the last qualifying round.
Prizes: The Andrew C. Bailey Senior Amateur Trophy will be presented to the Champion along with a crystal trophy to keep. The Super Senior Division Champion will also receive a crystal trophy and The Super Senior Trophy. Merchandise certificates, in each division, will be awarded. Merchandise Certificates are only redeemable at the host club.
Inclement Weather/Cancelled Round Stipulation: The NEGA reserves the right to alter any of the conditions and schedules herein.
Restrictions: If the Championship course is declared unplayable and as a result it is not possible to complete the 36 holes of play in the period in which the Championship is scheduled, the Championship will not be extended beyond the last scheduled day and the winner shall be the individual who returns the lowest score for the number of stipulated rounds played. The Committee may institute a cut in order to play the last stipulated round
Withdrawal/Refund Policy
Competitors, who have submitted an entry for an NEGA event and wish to withdraw for any reason, MUST notify the NEGA office in writing (e-mail is acceptable and encouraged) or by phone. Entry fee will be refunded less a $20 administrative fee, regardless of reason, if the NEGA is notified in writing or by phone seven days prior to each event. Entry fee will be refunded less 50% for any withdrawals received less than seven days prior to each event. No refund will be processed for a withdrawal notification that is received on the scheduled date of an event (Championship or Qualifier).
